Groom grooming in Istanbul: wedding-day barber at your home or hotel
October 31, 2026 · 3 min read

Yours is the face that will be in almost every wedding photo. That's why groom grooming isn't just another barber appointment — it's a small plan with timing, a trial and plenty of detail.
Whether you live in Istanbul or you're flying in for a destination wedding on the Bosphorus, here's what I've learned from years of getting grooms ready.
What is groom grooming?
A groom package covers the haircut, beard design or a clean shave, hot towel, skincare and final styling for the camera. The difference is time: a normal haircut takes 45 minutes, but I set aside at least 1.5–2 hours for a groom.
When should you get your hair cut?
The most common mistake is changing your style the day before the wedding. My recommendation:
- 2–3 weeks before: Trial cut. We choose the style together and check how it looks in photos.
- 5–7 days before: The main cut. Hair settles in a few days and clipper lines soften.
- Wedding morning: Line-up, neckline, beard and final styling. This is the real "groom's cut".
The wedding morning is not the time to try something new — it's when a style you already love is made perfect.
If you're flying in, we can do the trial on your first days in Istanbul and the main cut a few days later.
Beard or clean shave?
If you have a beard, you don't need to shave it off for the wedding. A contour that suits your face shape and the right length usually looks best. Not sure which beard suits you? See beard styles for your face shape.
If you want a clean shave, try it at least once during the trial. Sensitive skin can stay red for 24 hours — not a surprise you want on the day.
The wedding morning at your home or hotel
Most grooms ask me to come to their home or hotel suite rather than heading to a barbershop on the morning of the wedding. Why?
- No traffic or parking — the schedule doesn't slip.
- The photographer can shoot the getting-ready moments in the same place.
- The best man, fathers and brothers can all be groomed in the same session.
Here's how it works:
- We confirm the address and time in advance, planned around your photographer.
- I arrive early and set up: cape, floor cover, good light.
- Haircut, beard, hot towel and skincare — about 1.5–2 hours for the groom.
- 30–45 minutes per person for the rest of the party.
- Final styling just before the jacket goes on, then I clean up and leave.
Skincare for the big day
Flash photography is unforgiving. On the morning, a hot towel, a gentle exfoliation and moisturiser are enough. I never use harsh masks or a product you've never tried before. Brows and ears get tidied too.
How much does it cost?
My groom package starts from ₺6,000, including the trial and the wedding-day visit to your home or hotel. Standard prices apply to the rest of the party. See the full list in barber prices in Istanbul 2026.
Quick checklist
- Book the trial 2–3 weeks before the wedding.
- Get the main cut 5–7 days before.
- Reserve your wedding-morning barber at least 2–3 weeks ahead — weekend mornings fill up fast in wedding season.
- Share your photographer's schedule with your barber.
- Tell me how many people need grooming.
If your date is set, message me on WhatsApp and we'll plan the trial and the morning together. Everything about home and hotel visits is on the home barber Istanbul page.
